Good Tour de Langkawi for Trek – Marco Polo Cycling Team PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 25 February 2008
The Trek – Marco Polo Cycling Team had a good Tour de Langkawi. The team missed a bit of luck to make it great. But we can be satisfied with the strong riding and good teamwork.
It was a pity that we had none of the riders in the early break that decided the GC. After that the team was always present in breaks and attacked many times.
Sergey was close to the top placings a few times in the mass sprints, but was hindered a few times by crashes. Xing Yan Dong rode very strong and had a great 3rd place after a long break-away. Young Malaysian Loh Sea Keong worked hard for the team but could also be present in 2 important breaks. He tried but could not get the top result in the hard finales. Fuyu Li showed how strong he has become and had a strong solo ride towards the decisive climb of Frasier Hill. And climber Jai Crawford impressed with an attack on this climb but teamwork of the strong French Protour teams and the Serramenti team of Tour winner Ivanov made it impossible to stay away.
The team showed themselves very good in the Tour de Langkawi by being competive in most stages and ride aggressive in break-aways and 23 year old Chinese Xing Yan Dong getting a podium placing.
