Oggi grew up in Mongolia and decided to become a cyclist at the age of 16. Within a few years he was racing the Peace Race (old style; Tour de France of the communist countries!). He studied top-sports at Sowjet Union topsports universities and was successful in many western races, which led to offers of pro-teams, for example the Gatorade team of Gianni Bugno. This time he could not take the opportunity because Mongolia was still a communist country. After the Olympic Games in Barcelona, where he had a great ride, but crashed in the last lap, Oggi became another chance to become pro. This time the injuries from a very bad car accident held him 3 months in hospital. Oggi brings character and experience into the team and can often ‘turn a whole race upside down’ by himself.
