The Trek – Marco Polo Cycling Team did not only renew a part of it’s sponsor-pool, but also composed a new team of riders.
A great start to an important year being a Chinese team as well as for Fuyu who returned to Trek - Marco Polo after  racing last year on Discovery Channel Pro Tour squad.

Leon van Bon to Trek – Marco Polo Cycling Team PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, 15 December 2007
Leon van Bon will ride for the Trek – Marco Polo Cycling Team in 2008. The current Rabobank Pro Tour rider will race most of the important races on the UCI Asia Tour calendar.
Van Bon is a former medalist at Olympic Games (silver points race, Barcelona) and World professionals Championships (bronze, San Sebastian), he won two Tour de France and one Vuelta stage and also won the HEW Cyclassics.
In the Trek – Marco Polo Team, Van Bon will have the role of road captain. The team hopes that Van Bon will form a strong combination with sprinter Sergey Kudentsov and climber Jai Crawford.
Van Bon is the second rider on the team that comes directly from the Pro Tour ranks, after Fuy Li of China, who rode for the Discovery Channel Pro Tour team in 2007, qualifying for the Olympic road race in Beijing.

Van Bon
is very happy to have found a nice way to end his great career in cycling: “The Trek – Marco Polo Team allows me to combine teaching the younger Asian riders, have the challenge of a racing circuit that is new to me and find new experiences in my life.”
As Van Bon seeks a future in photography after his cycling career, the team will help him to publicize the pictures he will take in 2008 in different media. He will combine the races of the team with his participation in Six Day events on the track and other events.
